Writers’ Bloc

Writers’ Bloc is an Edinburgh-based spoken word collective which has appropriated powerful Soviet iconography for its own shallow purposes. Its themed shows have ranged from the nutritional exposé Blood Doner Kebab and the colonial hymn Last Days of the Radge to the Satanic shocker To The Devil An ASBO and the vintage mystery Doyle M For Murder.
The group has toured extensively throughout Scotland and holds a British record for the most north-westerly spoken word residency in history, comprising two nights in an art gallery on the beach at Kinlochbervie. Bloc’s members range from professional novelists to notorious drunks.
Expect a crammed programme for the penultimate show in Underword 2009.
